John Laffin Travel Scholarship Prize

FFFAIF Inc John Laffin Memorial Fund (JLMF) was formed in 2002 to achieve the advancement of education particularly in the field of Australian History with its major emphasis upon the participation of Australians in the Great War 1914-1918 (WWI). It was established as a Gift Fund for the purpose of providing money, property or benefits to Deductible Gift Recipients. It operated from 2005 and awarded prizes to four recipients, all under-graduate students at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). When UNSW revised its courses, negotiations to continue with the University broke down and alternatives were considered, however the Public Ancillary Fund (PAF) status of the Fund became a limitation.

The John Laffin Travel Scholarship Prize (ABN 49 207 476 906) was set up and registered as a charity and endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient, which has cleared the way for the ongoing award of the Prize.

All funds in the John Laffin Memorial Fund (JLMF) have been transferred to the John Laffin Travel Scholarship Prize (JLTSP) the JLMF is terminated. FFFAIF is currently in  negotiations with the History Teachers’ Association of NSW with the aim of new arrangements enabling the John Laffin Travel Scholarship Prize to be awarded from 2017.
