{"id":10523,"date":"2012-04-15T12:53:04","date_gmt":"2012-04-15T12:53:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fffaif.org.au\/?p=10523"},"modified":"2012-06-11T09:07:46","modified_gmt":"2012-06-11T09:07:46","slug":"anzac-day-in-gallipoli-france","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fffaif.org.au\/?p=10523","title":{"rendered":"ANZAC Day in Gallipoli &#038; France"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Are you planning to be in Gallipoli or France for Anzac Day? <a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/1st-ANZAC-Day-Anniversary-Prog_cropped_website.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-10524\" title=\"1st ANZAC Day Anniversary Prog_cropped_website\" src=\"http:\/\/md-cpanel04.websiteactive.com\/~ffff1111\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/1st-ANZAC-Day-Anniversary-Prog_cropped_website.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>STILL TIME TO REGISTER FOR ANZAC DAY IN GALLIPOLI &amp; FRANCE\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ahead of Anzac Day 2012, Secretary for the Department of Veterans\u2019 Affairs Mr Ian Campbell encouraged Australians travelling to Gallipoli or France commemorations to register at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gallipoliregistration.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">www.gallipoliregistration.com<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.franceregistration.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">www.franceregistration.com<\/a> to ensure they come prepared.<br \/>\nMr Campbell said on average up to 10,000 people travel to Gallipoli, Turkey each year and more than 4,000 travel to Villers-Bretonneux, France to attend Anzac Day commemorations.<br \/>\n\u201cFor many Australians, following in the footsteps of relatives who have served and died on the battlefields of the Gallipoli Peninsula or the Western Front during the First World War is the trip of a lifetime but it is important they come prepared,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cInformation services are available for Australians travelling to Gallipoli and France. Each service provides travellers with helpful tips on what to bring and what to expect over the 2012 commemorative period.<br \/>\n\u201cAt Gallipoli, visitors are exposed to the elements for up to 24-hours so hints on what to bring and what to wear are essential to ensure they are comfortable for the duration of the commemorations.<br \/>\n\u201cIn Villers-Bretonneux, road closures are in place 5 pm 24 April \u2013 9 am 25 April and visitors will receive tips on traffic arrangements for the Dawn Service and later community services.\u201d<br \/>\nMr Campbell said the registration service was not mandatory nor was it a ticketing system for the commemorations \u2013 but a way for travellers to stay informed of important updates.<br \/>\n\u201cI encourage Australians planning to travel to Gallipoli or Villers-Bretonneux for Anzac Day in 2012 to register their interest to ensure they make the most of their experience,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nRegistration is optional and people can still attend the commemorations in Gallipoli and France if they have not registered.\u00a0 Registration does not provide reserved seating. Updates are provided via text message and\/or email.<br \/>\nVisitors are also encouraged to register at <a title=\"You are leaving the DVA website.
