The population of Dubbo is nearing 40,000 people with a regional population in excess of 120,000 people.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-4042\" href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.wordpress.com\/2009\/05\/21\/memorial-way-no-10-dubbo\/065_sml\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4042\" title=\"065_sml\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/05\/065_sml.jpg\" alt=\"065_sml\" width=\"336\" height=\"448\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Photo: Dubbo War Memorial [Graeme Hosken]<\/p>\n<p>A crowd of nearly 4,000 people gathered for the unveiling of the Dubbo War Memorial in Victoria Park on 25 April 1925. The memorial was unveiled by <a href=\"http:\/\/adbonline.anu.edu.au\/biogs\/A090254b.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Brigadier General James Heane, DSO, CMG, CB <\/a>who was educated at Dubbo Superior School and served as the Area Officer for Militia Training prior to the Great War.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-4045\" href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.wordpress.com\/2009\/05\/21\/memorial-way-no-10-dubbo\/b-g-james-heane_sml\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4045\" title=\"B-G James Heane_sml\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/05\/b-g-james-heane_sml.jpg\" alt=\"B-G James Heane_sml\" width=\"264\" height=\"448\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Photo: Brigadier General James Heane [AWM Collection]<\/p>\n<p>The War Memorial was designed by Sydney architects H.Crone and R.W. Hinton and features three bronze panels by leading sculptor Raynor Hoff. These panels were the only commission that Hoff undertook for a town committee. [State Library NSW]<\/p>\n<p>In 1995 a stone obelisk was built to display the names of those who made the supreme sacrifice in both World Wars.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-4055\" href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.wordpress.com\/2009\/05\/21\/memorial-way-no-10-dubbo\/073_sml\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4055\" title=\"073_sml\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/05\/073_sml.jpg\" alt=\"073_sml\" width=\"336\" height=\"448\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">The names of 105 soldiers from the Great War appear on the obelisk. One of the names appearing on the honour roll is SILLAR R.A. Captain Roy Allen Sillar was a doctor who enlisted with the Australian Army Medical Corps (AAMC) who died as the result of an accident, while based on the Salisbury Plain, on\u00a030 June 1918.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-4056\" href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.wordpress.com\/2009\/05\/21\/memorial-way-no-10-dubbo\/sillars-grave_sml\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4056\" title=\"Sillar's grave_sml\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/05\/sillars-grave_sml.jpg\" alt=\"Sillar's grave_sml\" width=\"336\" height=\"448\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Photo: Grave of Captain Roy Sillar.
