\n<\/span>Sunday 1st<\/sup> November at 2 pm.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Oatley RSL Sub-Branch is holding a ceremony to honour the memory of servicemen whose names were recently added to the War Memorial in Oatley Gardens. As part of the upgrade to the memorial earlier this year, the names of several people identified in a recent research project\u00a0were added to the memorial. It now incorporates the names of all soldiers who served in World Wars I and II and the Korean, Malayan and Vietnam Wars.<\/p>\n

\n*Dedication of a Memorial Plaque to the 45th Infantry Battalion<\/em><\/a>, Saturday 7th November, 2009, 11:00am\u00a0at Mortdale Memorial Park, cnr Boundary Rd and Macquarie Place, Mortdale, NSW

The Families and Friends of the First AIF<\/em><\/strong> applauds\u00a0the joint Australian\u2013UK decision, announced by The Hon Greg Combet AM MP and the Hon Kevan Jones MP, to conduct a full DNA testing program on the remains of Australian and British soldiers found in mass graves at Pheasant Wood (Fromelles), and for their continuing commitment to identify as many of the fallen as is possible. We also thank the Australian, UK and French governments for affording dignified individual reburials for these soldiers, buried by\u00a0German soldiers following the Battle of Fromelles\u00a0on 19\/20 July 1916, in the new Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) Military Cemetery presently under construction at Fromelles.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
