{"id":6993,"date":"2009-11-10T23:58:35","date_gmt":"2009-11-10T12:58:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fffaif.wordpress.com\/?p=6993"},"modified":"2009-11-10T23:58:35","modified_gmt":"2009-11-10T12:58:35","slug":"mhsa-host-fromelles-talk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fffaif.org.au\/?p=6993","title":{"rendered":"MHSA Fromelles Talk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><strong>From<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>The Military Historical Society of Australia<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Victoria Branch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/mhsa-vic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6994\" title=\"MHSA Vic\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/mhsa-vic.jpg\" alt=\"MHSA Vic\" width=\"88\" height=\"116\" \/><\/a><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong>An invitation to attend<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>a talk by Lambis Englezos<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><strong><em>\u2018Fromelles and Pheasant Wood\u2019\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>A talk on the history of the battle, the research and most recent work at the site\u2026<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/mhsa_lambis.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6995\" title=\"MHSA_Lambis\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/mhsa_lambis.jpg\" alt=\"MHSA_Lambis\" width=\"158\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a>Mr Lambis Englezos, AM<\/strong> is well-known as the amateur historian and school teacher responsible for discovering mass war graves of Australian and British soldiers from World War 1 near Fromelles in France.\u00a0 He became a member of the Order of Australia this year after being recognised for <em>&#8220;service to the community through research and advocacy roles\u201d <\/em>relating to that discovery.<\/p>\n<p>The location of the Fromelles mass burial site was first indicated by Melburnian Mr Englezos\u2019 amateur historian research efforts.\u00a0 It took him over five years to convince sceptical bureaucrats and professional researchers that the burial pits existed.\u00a0 Now our lost Diggers will be recovered and remembered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On Thursday 26<sup>th<\/sup> November at 8.00 pm, Mr Englezos will make a presentation to the <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mhsavictoria.tripod.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>MHSA<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u2019s meeting at the Oakleigh-Carnegie RSL in Drummond Street, Oakleigh.
