style=\"text-align:center;\">The Last Post\u00a0is sounded on the cornet of the 31st Battalion AIF<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">On Wednesday the re-burial of 34 soldiers killed at the Battle of Fromelles whose remains were recovered from the burial pits at Pheasant Wood took place in showery and cold weather.\u00a0 The snow had melted and the ground was muddy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/02\/3-02-2010-re-burials-01-2nd-day-003-sml.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a Military Cemetery on the morning of 3 February 2010 following rain<\/p>\n<p>Carole Laignel, FFFAIF member\u00a0and Secretary, Fromelles Museum (<a title=\"Fromelles Museum FWTM\" href=\"http:\/\/www.asbf14-18.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fromelles Weppes Terre de M\u00e9moire 1914-1918<\/a>)\u00a0has again provided a photographic record, covering some of the re-burials on Wednesday 3 February 2010.\u00a0 The re-burials follow the Commonwealth War Graves Commission <em>The Order of Service for the re-burial of soldiers killed in the Battle of Fromelles 19 July at Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) Military Cemetery<\/em> available for download on their website <em><a title=\"remembering Fromelles blog\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cwgc.org\/fromelles\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\">remembering Fromelles<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The Service again commenced with the Ceremonial Guard parading and the Union Jack and\u00a0Australian flags being raised, broken and lowered to half mast.<\/p>\n<p>The burial plots were prepared.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/02\/3-02-2010-re-burials-02-afternoon2-037-sml.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/02\/3-02-2010-more-soldiers-re-buried-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7778\" title=\"3 02 Firing Parties and Orderlies took their positions and the Bearer Party received the coffin before the Chaplains led the Bearer Party and coffin to the graveside.<\/p>\n<p prayer as the Bearer Party lowered the coffin into the grave.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">\u00a0<a style=\"text-align:center;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This part of the service was followed for each of 34 soldiers re-buried.<\/p>\n<p>At the Close of the Day, the Bearer Party took up its position alongside conduct a full DNA testing program on the remains of Australian and British soldiers found in mass graves at Pheasant Wood (Fromelles), and for their continuing commitment to identify as many of the fallen as is possible.
