re-burials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday the re-burial of 34 soldiers killed at the Battle of Fromelles whose remains were recovered from the burial pits at Pheasant Wood continued in showery and cold weather.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/02\/5-02-2010-3rd-day-of-re-burials-064-sml1.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/02\/5-02-2010-3rd-day-of-re-burials-064-sml2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter Laignel, FFFAIF member\u00a0and Secretary, Fromelles Museum (<a title=\"Fromelles Museum FWTM\" href=\"http:\/\/www.asbf14-18.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fromelles Weppes Terre de M\u00e9moire 1914-1918<\/a>)\u00a0 has provided a photographic record of some of the re-burials on the morning of Friday 5 February 2010.\u00a0 The re-burials continue to follow the Commonwealth War Graves Commission <em>The Order of Service for the re-burial of soldiers killed in the Battle of Fromelles 19 July at Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) Military Cemetery<\/em> available for download on their website <a title=\"Order of Service\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cwgc.org\/fromelles\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>remembering Fromelles.<\/em> <\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a style=\"text-align:center;\">Re-burials commenced near the Cross of Sacrifice, where members of the Royal British Legion provided an honour guard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">\u00a0<a style=\"text-align:center;\">The Bearer Party awaited the arrival of hearse to receive the coffins.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">\u00a0<a style=\"text-align:center;\">The Chaplain led the Bearer Party and coffin to the graveside where she recited a prayer as the Bearer Party lowered the coffin into the grave.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">The grave was then covered.<\/p>\n<p>This part of the service was followed for the re-burial of 18 soldiers during the morning.\u00a0 This photo report was sent by Carole before a further 16 re-burials had taken place in the afternoon and before the Close of Day had been completed.<\/p>\n<p>Once again we would like to record our appreciation for the efforts of Carole in providing photo reports of the re-burial services.<\/p>\n<p>FFFAIF would also like to thank the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the Fromelles Management Board, the Australian Fromelles Project
