(Google Earth co-ordinates: 35<sup>o<\/sup>55\u201900.76\u201dS 145<sup>0<\/sup>39\u201902.81\u201dE)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-017_cobram_web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8487\" title=\"Anzac Day 2010 017_Cobram_web\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-017_cobram_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"336\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cobram started Anzac Day with a Dawn Service at the War Memorial,\u00a0which was well attended by several hundred people.\u00a0<br \/>\nAt 9.30am returned servicemen &amp; women, along with descendants, service groups &amp; school children marched with the Brass Band &amp; Pipe Band from the Shire Office down the main street to the Civic Centre &amp; War Memorial.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-0022_cobram_web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8488\" title=\"Anzac Day 2010 0022_Cobram_web\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-0022_cobram_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"336\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A large crowd of around a thousand people assembled around the War Memorial to pay their respects. There were people of all ages from\u00a0nursing home residents in wheel chairs to families with young children.<br \/>\nIt was\u00a0wonderful to see such a big crowd. Each of the local schools were represented by students who read poems or stories &amp; they all did a wonderful job.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-005_cobram_web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8489\" title=\"Anzac Day 2010 005_Cobram_web\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-005_cobram_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"283\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The local &#8216;Men&#8217;s Shed&#8217; made up 50 small white crosses, which school children were invited to\u00a0name in honour of a soldier they knew of. These crosses were then placed under our &#8216;Lone Pine&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-cobram_009_web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8490\" title=\"Anzac Day 2010 Cobram_009_web\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-cobram_009_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"332\" height=\"448\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The member for Murray, Dr. Sharman Stone, spoke very well, having recently returned from visiting our troops in Afghanistan. One by one, the many wreaths were taken up &amp; placed at the Memorial Stone, each one representing a school, service or community group &amp; Returned Service groups.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-0010_cobram_web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8491\" title=\"Anzac Day 2010 0010_Cobram_web\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-0010_cobram_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"336\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The bands played &amp; the children sang, altogether it was a\u00a0very heart warming display of love &amp; respect for the many brave men &amp; women who fought &amp; died\u00a0for our freedom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-013_web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8493\" title=\"Anzac Day 2010 013_web\" src=\"http:\/\/fffaif.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/anzac-day-2010-013_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"266\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sure that the children\u00a0who were involved in today&#8217;s ceremony will carry on our Anzac Day tradition &amp; never forget the meaning of Anzac Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">Lest We Forget.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">*****<\/p>\n<p>The photos in this report were taken by Anne \u2013 many thanks for sharing your Anzac Day with us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Families and Friends of First AIF member Anne Betts sent this report from the Victorian country town of Cobram.
