The French National Day will be marked with a wreath-laying ceremony and historical re-enactments, including the firing of two cannons, as well as entertainment provided by Paris-based, Australian jazz musician Chris Cody and his band.

The grounds of the Museum will feature traditional lawn games, croquet and petanque, and children can participate in a Parisian-style art lesson while audiences are entertained by a wandering accordion player.

Members of the public are invited to visit the La Perouse Museum, which contains original maps, antique scientific instruments and relics recovered from the wrecks of La Perouse’s frigates Boussole and Astrolabe.

The Museum is now open four days a week from 10am, with free entry.
